Special machining tools for die & mold

Commercialization and implementation of a machinists skills and techniques.

Extra high speed head integrated air bearings

Extra high speed head integrated air bearings

An Extra high speed of 30000 - 60000min-1 has been achieved on this attachment, on which the spindle is supported by aero-static bearings. The tool also contains a unique head design that allows the machining of deep and narrow areas on dies and molds where small end mills are required. Spindle runout on the head is less than 0.07μm. Therefore results attained have been excellent on die and mold surfaces, and in certain cases has eliminated the need for electrical discharge machining and difficult-to-cut extra hard materials.

Inner-corner cutting tool function

Inner-corner cutting tool function

This new and innovative rotating tool has a unique feature that makes it possible to machine a sharp or small corner radius in pockets on dies and molds, where otherwise an electrical discharge machine would normally be required in order to machine such detail. This time saving innovation eliminates electrode design, special machines to produce electrodes, programs to machine electrodes and the conventional process in general. This new technology is an advancement which eliminates the need for an electrical discharge machine. Thus, leading to improvements in the accuracy of dies and molds, with an overall reduction in production time. This has drastically reduced the amount of industrial waste, and saved energy in the die and mold field.

OCTA-Parallel insert

OCTA-Parallel insert

This insert is strong enough to endure a fluctuating heavy load in machining, under which a depth of cut as aggressive as half the size of the insert can be engaged. An insert can be indexed 16 times (octagon shape x two faces) and can be regrounded when required. Overall the improvements of reduction in tooling is demonstrated through the changes in costs and efficiency.
