Additive manufactuirng system (ZK Series)

Our additive manufacturing system "ZK Series" are based on DED method. It uses metal powder as raw material to manufacture products additively.

Additive manufactuirng system

This machine uses directed energy deposition(DED) method. A Laser beam is used as an AM energy source and metal powders are used as material of AM products in the method. They are irradiated to a surface simultaneously and deposition occurs. The DED method requires far less amount of material than conventional cutting method. There are a lot of advanteges given by the method. For example, material procurement time and material weight can be reduced and productivity can be improved. Additionally, amount of wasted material can also be reduced. Thus, environmental burden can be reduced.

The DED method can be utilized in next-generation design and manufacturing that includes manufacturing without molds, partial deposition on existing parts, and multi-layer deposition using different types of powders together.

A part of this technology was developed under the sponsorship of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) under the program "Technological Development for Next-Generation Industrial 3D Printers" and under the support of the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).
