Employment for disabled people and workplace environment

We promote the creation of a workplace where disabled people (including severely disabled people) are encouraged to work with high motivations. In our various workplaces, 33 disabled staff members are actively engaged in their tasks including system development and production management as at the end of March 2023.

We will continuously promote creation of a workplace environment that facilitates disabled people to improve their motivations towards work by providing adequate welfare facilities as well as positive recruitment.

Re-employment system

SHIBAURA MACHINE positively support employment of senior staff members. A re-employment system is available for the employees up to the age of 65 to provide the worthwhile work opportunities and to effectively utilize their wealth of experience and skills after 60 years of age. Many employees are using this system.

Support for female workforce

SHIBAURA MACHINE is focusing on the support for the balance between “child-bearing and childcare” and “work”, which is one of the major reasons for the resignations of female workers and aims at the realization of a society that is friendly to female workers. A new force is necessary to create a new business in the environment where new businesses in advanced countries have matured. Therefore, we exercise gender-free recruitment.

Systems available for childcare and nursing and the utilization statuses

The work return rate from maternity leave of female employees is 100% over the past 5 years. We also have a short working hours system and a system that exempts the employee from overtime work according to the request from the employee. We also added “nursing” to the reasons for accumulated paid leave to improve the system that supports the work-life balance.

Work environment that facilitates the balancing between childcare and work for the sustainable long-term employment

The average number of years of service in FY2022 is 19.4 years (male: 19.3 years, female: 20.6 years)*. As indicated in this figure, many employees are able to work in this company for a long period of time, which is the feature of our company.

Promoting the engagement of various types of personnel
