Shibaura Machine:
The origin of manufacturing Story 1
“SHIBAURA”
is where everything started.
In 1938, our predecessor Shibaura Machine Tool Company was founded.
Kametaro Fujishima was a key figure in this. Before establishing the new company,
he traveled to the United States and Europe to study the global standards of advanced technology at the time.
Time passed and on March 18, 1949, Shibaura Machine Works Co. was founded.
Heavy industry was promoted as part of Japan’s recovery,
and the mission of machine tool manufacturers was supporting heavy industry to aid Japan’s reconstruction.
Through their customers, they were to support Japan and the world.
After 80 years, this spirit of manufacturing at Shibaura remains unchanged today.
